Free Pattern :: Easy Striped Blanket

Hello Friends,

Remember this post?  Well, I've finally finished the blanket, it only took me over a year!  It's super easy to make, and if you like a mindless stitch that you can do in front of the TV, this one is perfect.  Take a look at the final product...Free pattern below!

Required Crochet Stitches:  chain (ch), single crochet (sc) Note: All terms are U.S.

Main Blanket:  You can make this any size you like, all you need to do is chain an even number of stitches to start.  For my blanket I wanted something fairly large, so I started off with:

ch 164,

Foundation Row - Sc into the 4th ch from hook.  *Ch 1, skip next ch, sc into next ch*.  Repeat pattern across and turn.

Row 1 - ch 2, (counts as first sc, ch 1).  Skip first sc, *1 sc in next ch 1 space, ch 1, skip next sc*.  Repeat pattern across, ending with 1 sc in last ch 1 space of turning ch, turn.

Row 3 and beyond - Repeat row 1.  I used 3 colors for my blanket and changed whenever I felt like it, no rhyme or reason.  I just sort of went with what looked good to me.

Measurement - approx. 46" x 72", using worsted weight yarn.

Border - I did a simple sc border evenly around.

  2. I'm going to start working on this for a Christmas present for my husband and I'm doing it in his college colors. I'm a realtive beginner so this will be an awesome project for me. This would be a great school pride blanket too! Such a nice striping pattern. Thank you for sharing this pattern!!!

  3. Love this pattern. What size hook did you use? I noticed that your rows are not the same size did you just use a couple skeins and then just one? Sorry for all the questions but I am new at this.
    Thanks so much.

    1. Hi Maureen, thank you. I used a 5 mm hook and I had no plan when it came to the width if the stripes. I basically alternated colours and width to make it look organic. Good luck@
