Terry Fox Walk

Hello Friends,

Yesterday we did the Terry Fox Run (Walk) with the school.  Such a great fundraiser for cancer research!  The kids were pumped and the day was just gorgeous, considering they'd been calling for rain all week.  We walked down the Humber River, near the school and up through the neighbourhood, back to the school.  We were fortunate enough to see some salmon swimming up the river...needless to say, this caused much excitement!  All in all it took us just over an hour...a good walk; and the kids could really hoof it!

The Cooler Weather is Upon Us...

Hello Friends...

With school starting last week, we seem to be getting back into the swing of things.  The kids are adjusting to the new school well...making new friends and both are happy with their new teachers.  My little one, has a different schedule this year (her final year of Kindergarten)...she attends every day in the afternoon.  Last year, her school district had a full day, 2 days per week schedule.  Pros and cons to both, but we are enjoying the new change of pace.

With the cooler weather last week (it has since warmed up again), I was inspired to whip up a simple cold weather scarf...especially perfect for fall.  You may remember awhile back I'd found some great organic cotton yarn on clearance...always an exciting experience.  Anyway, I went back and picked up 3 more balls in a different colour.  The result is a simple, long hdc stitch scarf with tassels on each end.  The thing I love most about this scarf is its vibrant happy colour variations:

Last week before school started, we went down the lake again...this is what we found:

Giant Granny Blanket - Finished!

Hello Friends,

As we're getting ready for our Labour Day long weekend and for the new school year to begin next week, I wanted to finish off a quick summer project that I'd started earlier this summer.  Some of you may remember, that in the midst of boxes and moving, I was in crochet withdrwal...so I began working on this ribbon blanket for my daughter.  A simple, mindless project to squeeze in some much needed down time in between all the maddness.  I'm really happy with the way it turned out.  Ribbon yarn is not the easiest yarn to work with, but it is very cosy, cudly and soft.

Now that school and the fall is upon us, I look forward to working on some new crochet projects...
